Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that 'everything is possible' regarding Liverpool's reported interest in star defender Goncalo Inacio.

Liverpool have been consistently linked with a move for the 22-year-old over the past 18 months and speculation persists this summer with the Reds reportedly keen to reinforce their defence.

The left-footed centre-back is one of the most promising young talents in European football and he was included in the Portugal squad for Euro 2024 after helping Sporting to the Primeira Liga title last term.

Inacio boasts a £51m release clause in his current deal and it's believed that Sporting are unwilling to negotiate that particular sum.

While time is running out for Inacio to move to Merseyside this summer, his manager has admitted that it's not impossible that he leaves the club before the window shuts.

Ruben Amorim discusses Goncalo Inacio future

Speaking before Sporting's match against Nacional on Saturday, Amorim suggested that there are no guarantees regarding Inacio and his future in Lisbon.

"A lot of news has already come out," said Amorim. "I don’t know if there have been negotiations. Inacio will play tomorrow. He’s ready. Whatever happens in the market...

"We already have some experience; we know that our players are very attractive for the market. Until it closes, everything is possible. No more or less worried about waiting for the market to close."

It does seem unlikely that Inacio will join Liverpool - this summer at least - but it's interesting that Amorim didn't completely rule out a move for the exciting central defender.

Liverpool have also been linked with his centre-back partner Ousmane Diomande and Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres during recent months.

The Reds are the only club in the Premier League yet to make a new signing and are running out of time to do so after being rejected by Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.
