Liverpool transfer news roundup: Sane worry, Gray surprise, Phillips eyed
It's the international break. And as per, boredom is prevailing.
Club football may have screeched to a halt, but something that never stops spinning is the weird and wonderful transfer mill!
The January transfer window is fast approaching, and as such, Liverpool are beginning to be repeatedly linked with a number of supposed targets.
Let's take a look at the latest gossip and try and separate the somewhat fact from the straight-up fiction.
Leroy Sane
We start with Liverpool's marquee transfer target of late.
According to Sky Germany, Bayern Munich are worried about Liverpool’s growing interest in Leroy Sane and the possibility of a move in the coming months.
This comes as the Bavarians look to sign Sane to a long-term extension, with the former Manchester City star finally beginning to reach the heights expected of him in the Bundesliga.
Sane threatened to become a world-beater at City, but went off the boil a bit after sustaining that major injury against Liverpool in the Community Shield.
However, if he's back on the trajectory to reach that initial potential, this would be a hell of a signing.
Archie Gray
Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Leeds United starlet Archie Gray over the past few weeks, with reports claiming that the club were lining up a £40m bid for the 17-year-old.
However, it seems hope of a move for the latest Championship wonderkid is about to come crashing down.
Neil Jones has told Redmen TV that he would be 'amazed' to see Jurgen Klopp's side meet Leeds' demands and pay the reported £40m fee.
Liverpool not willing to pay an asking price? Imagine my shock.
Kalvin Phillips
Liverpool are reportedly still eyeing a move for Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
A reported target throughout the summer, Football Insider are claiming that the Reds' pursuit of the English international is far from over, with the club in the market for a defensive midfielder in January.
Liverpool will face competition for his signature, however, with Newcastle, West Ham and Juventus all said to be in the race.
If City's £45m valuation of the midfielder sticks from last summer, we really can't see this one happening any time soon.
Valentin Barco
Liverpool are the latest club to be linked with a move for Boca Juniors defender Valentin Barco.
According to Italian publication Calciomercato, the Reds are among the clubs to have set their eyes on the 19-year-old.
A versatile defender, Barco could be lined up as the potential successor for Andy Robertson.
We'll see if this saga goes anywhere.
Andre
Fluminense would now accept a £30m January offer for long-term Liverpool target Andre, according to Football Insider.
The Reds are scouring the market for defensive midfielder options as the new year approaches and the Brazilian is said to still be firmly on their radar.
Liverpool were believed to have made multiple moves for the 22-year-old in the summer, but they were rejected by both club and player, with Andre committed to fulfilling his Copa Libertadores duties at Fluminense - a competition they went on to win.
