Here's what happening in the world of Liverpool transfer news this Wednesday...

Steve Kay writing for Anfield Watch has reported that Levi Colwill is being eyed as Virgil van Dijk's long-term successor, as the Reds look to convince the Chelsea man that Anfield is his next home. Read all about it here.

Elsewhere, Perr Schuurs has been talked up as an alternative to Colwill. Football Insider say the 23-year-old Schuurs is a top target for the Reds and is much cheaper than some other options.

Tuttosport add that Napoli are also keen on Schuurs but the appeal of Liverpool is much "higher" to the player.

However, it might already be too late! Crystal Palace are just "one step away" from signing the big Dutchman, having offered €35m to Torino, according to DAZN's Orazio Accomando.

In other Dutch centre back news, Liverpool have cooled their interest in Micky van de Ven, say the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung — which is probably just as well seeing as he looks to be set for Spurs anyway.

It seems the Reds face stiff competition for all of their targets at the moment. The Mail say that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all interested in £50m-rated Romeo Lavia. Gulp. You can read more about that here.

Meanwhile, Jordan Henderson's move to Saudi Arabia is off as quickly as it was ever on, the Mail have poured cold water all over that one. Sorry Stevie G!

One man who could be on the way to the Saudi Pro League, though, is Arthur Melo. The Mail say he's had a "lucrative" offer from the Middle East, as well as interest from Wolves. Why? I'm not quite sure.
