Door now wide OPEN for Liverpool to complete the transfer of the summer
This could be a transfer window for the ages.
Yes, we are far too used to hearing that as Liverpool fans. And most of the time, nothing really happens.

But this time around, things are different. There have been massive changes made in the backroom staff over the last 12 months.
Neither Arne Slot nor the likes of Richard Hughes had a chance to really get to work in the summer transfer market last year because they had just arrived at the club.
Now though, both of them have a lot clearer of an idea in terms of what they want, where they need to strengthen and who might have to leave.
This summer will bring about the last remnants of the Jurgen Klopp era and start a new fresh beginning for Liverpool.
To accomplish that changes are going to have to be made and players are going to leave. At the same time, there will be new arrivals as well, including someone who Liverpool might never have thought would be available.

Over the last few games, it's been a bit of a slog for Liverpool and what is becoming apparent is that without Trent Alexander-Arnold in the side, Slot's team does struggle for creativity and goals.
This is something that needs to be fixed regardless of what Alexander-Arnold decides to do at the end of the season. At this stage he could leave and he could stay, nothing has been confirmed.
Obviously, if he joins Real Madrid, that need to add more creativity increases a lot more but even if he stays, Liverpool need to be a lot more multi-dimensional.
Next season, the Premier League is going to be ultracompetitive again and Slot will need to find other ways for Liverpool to find an edge.
And there is an unlikely possibility that could provide the answer to that and which Liverpool cannot ignore.
Kevin De Bruyne. Yes, this is at this point a genuine possibility. Even though it feels very wrong to say, yet at the same time kind of right?
The Belgian midfielder is available on a free transfer this summer and he has confirmed he will be leaving Manchester City. He also did not rule out that he wouldn't join a rival club.
Sure, he'll be 34-years-old this summer. FSG don't normally hand out contracts for players at that age. But De Bruyne could be an exception, just like Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah have been an exception.
He's still operating at an elite level and there is no question about it, he would make Liverpool a lot stronger for the next two seasons.
A report from Belgium has suggested that a move to Liverpool would be a possibility from De Bruyne's side of things as well.
De Standaard have claimed that De Bruyne's family has close ties to Liverpool, having supported the Reds. He is also unwilling to relocate and wants to compete at the highest level, which is why a move to Liverpool could come about.
Some fans might be rolling their eyes right now. Signing De Bruyne would require him to be on high wages. However, if he'd be willing to take a pay cut, just as James Milner had done when he joined from Man City on a free, Liverpool should be all over this.
Despite missing a chunk of this season due to injury, De Bruyne has still created 13 big chances for Man City, just one less than Alexander-Arnold for Liverpool.
His underlying creative numbers are insane. De Bruyne averages over seven passes into the opposition's penalty area - by far the most of any Premier League player.
He makes the most smart passes (1.1 per 90) and only Bukayo Saka (0.39 per 90) averages more expected assists than De Bruyne (0.38 per 90).
He also ranks among the top five midfielders for progressive passes (8.32 per 90 minutes).
And you can't even question his work off the ball. De Bruyne has averaged more possessions won in the opposition's final third (1.5 per 90) than any Liverpool player.

So, he can still do the pressing and be an elite, one of a kind creative player. If there is even a whisker of a chance of this being a possible deal Liverpool could do, Richard Hughes should be all over it.
