There is one wildcard option that could create a dream scenario for the club with Hughes now having a golden chance to sign one of Arsenal's best academy prospects.

One of the most in-form attackers in European football right now is 22-year-old Mika Biereth. He's already scored three hat-tricks since arriving at AS Monaco in the January transfer window and has 11 goal contributions in just seven Ligue 1 appearances.

The Danish star is extremely competent in front of goal, he made 32 goal contributions in 43 appearances for Sturm Graz prior to arriving at Monaco.

Watching Biereth right now Mikel Arteta must be holding his head in his hands because the young striker was actually on the books at Arsenal not too long ago.

After catching the eye for Fulham's U18 side hitting 40 goal contributions in 37 appearances, Biereth moved to Arsenal's U21 side where he made 17 goal contributions in 26 appearances.

He was never valued by Arteta though and sold last summer. That's a decision Arsenal will regret. On current form, he's probably their best academy product and the fact that he's not scoring goals for the Gunners is a bitter blow.

Liverpool have a chance now to make that blow even more bitter.

The Reds need a striker just like Biereth, and he ticks every box. The fact that he's also homegrown is just an added bonus.

Given his form, he's undoubtedly appeared on the club's radar and now Hughes can deliver an even sweeter victory over Arsenal.

He can start negotiating with Monaco to sign Biereth and there will be nothing Arteta can do to stop him.
