Liverpool pair now training with U21s as their exits are IMMINENT

Liverpool have sent a pair to train with the Under 21s as they near the exit door. The Reds are currently fielding offers for both.

The Athletic reports that both Rhys Williams and Billy Koumetio are training with the Liverpool Under 21s as their pair prepare to leave the club. Their exits are 'expected' at this point, says the report.

Williams has interest from Turkish sides as well as League One, they claim, with Koumetio could leave for Scotland or France. While no clubs are named, the suggestion is that Liverpool have buyers.

Liverpool have a surplus of centre-backs right now, with even Nat Phillips above the pair. He, too, is expected to depart this summer but the Reds will keep him around for the start of pre-season while Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konaté and Joe Gomez are away after the Euros.

For Williams and Koumetio, though, this is the end of the road. Both showed great promise at various times, of course, but they've been unable to kick on and make a first-team role for themselves.

Williams did actually do that at one point, admittedly. He was a regular as Liverpool secured a top-four finish during an injury crisis in 2020/21 alongside Phillips. He couldn't keep up those level, however, and has struggled out on loan.

Koumetio was once seen as a fantastic youth prospect and one that carried at a lot of hype. Unfortunately, his progress stalled and he never received a first-team chance.

Liverpool to move on players

These two are the most likely exits over the coming weeks. There are others, however, who could join them.

Caoimhin Kelleher, Sepp van den Berg and Tyler Morton are all heavily linked with moves away and Liverpool are open to sales. All three would need to generate the right fees, however, or they're sticking around.

That's not the case for Williams and Koumetio. The feeling is that Liverpool will accept the best offer, rather than demand a minimum offer.
