Liverpool have a serious summer transfer window ahead of them, as the squad's needs are finally set to be addressed following years of limited investment from FSG.

Since the midfield rebuild of 2023, the only incoming transfers have been Federico Chiesa for £12.5m and Giorgi Mamardashvili for £30m, although the goalkeeper will not arrive until the end of the season.

A number of positions need to be addressed; a left back, a centre-back, a right-back, a defensive midfielder, a winger and a striker. This is assuming Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah renew their contracts.

In order to fund such an endeavour, players that are not in Arne Slot's plans will need to be sold. These are expected to be Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott, Caoimhin Kelleher, and potentially Jarell Quansah, alongside one of Andy Robertson or Kostas Tsimikas.

The challenge ahead of the Liverpool's recruitment team is enormous to say the least. Only some of the above named players have had formal approaches ahead of the summer, although a move for Kelleher seems to be moving closer.

Chelsea and Tottenham declare interest in €30million move

According to Fichajes, Kelleher is subject to extensive interest among Premier League clubs.

However, Bournemouth have now reportedly left the race, opting instead to focus on other prospects, because Chelsea and Tottenham are assessing a move, with €30million the rumoured fee.

That would give the Reds around £25m to add to their transfer budget, knowing that a ready-made replacement is already coming through the door in Mamardashvili.

It has been no secret that Kelleher is looking for a way out of Liverpool - not because he dislikes the club in any way, but because he simply wants the opportunity to be the No. 1 goalkeeper.

Given the brilliance of Alisson, the Irishman simply hasn't had an opportunity to really be a club's main first-choice option. Instead he has had to settle as the Brazilian's understudy, playing only when his superior isn't available.

During the international breaks in the earlier half of the season, he explicitly said that he would like to get more minutes on the pitch and after six years of service in the senior team, the 26-year-old deserves a chance to stretch his wings before his career passes him by.

Liverpool had previously stood in his way when he attempted to make a move, but it seems as though he will have greater success when he explores his options this time around.

When he leaves, it will be a sombre moment for all Liverpool fans, who will hold him in high regard as one of the club's iconic 'keepers, single-handedly winning two domestic cups through his efforts in penalty shootouts.

Until that time comes, the Reds will will attempt to enjoy his presence around the team as much as possible, knowing that as sad as it might be to see him leave, it will be the right move for his career, and a useful transfer to top up the budget for a blockbuster summer of change.
