Liverpool transfer news recap: Salah's DEMANDS, Van Dijk's REVELATION
Here's all your latest Liverpool transfer news to catch up on. Mohamed Salah's and Virgil van Dijk's situations both have updates.
Mo Salah's contract demands
Football Insider are now reporting that Salah is looking to secure a ‘massive’ new three year contract that runs through until 2027.
The report states that Liverpool believe remaining at the club is Salah’s first choice, regardless of any offer that could come from Saudi Arabia and their unlimited wage fund.
A three-year contract would see Salah remain at the club until he is 35-years old. The argument for letting him go is mainly based around his age and the prediction that his performances will start to diminish the further he gets into his thirties.
Yet with his immaculate physical condition there is no reason to believe that he couldn’t sustain a starting level for all of those years, especially if Liverpool bring in replacement candidates to learn from and add goal involvements alongside him.
Virgil van Dijk talks on his contract
Virgil van Dijk's contract situation has been a shadow hanging over Liverpool's season, with the club captain currently set to leave Anfield at the end of the campaign.
Van Dijk, 33, has been at Anfield since 2018, earning top honours in the Champions League, the Premier League, the Club World Cup and other competitions.
The fact his contract situation has been left to get to this point has been a massive worry for Liverpool fans, and a cause for concern as Arne Slot builds the next era.
However, Van Dijk has dropped a massive update on his contract situation that will leave fans finally feeling positive.
Sturridge on Salah's motivation
The Egyptian's latest penalty kick means he is now joint-ninth on the all-time list of Premier League goal-scorers, with 162 goals.
Because of this, Sturridge believes the 33-year-old will be determined to remain at Anfield and beat former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry's record with 175 goals.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the Chelsea game, the former Liverpool striker said:
"At Liverpool, I don’t think he thought he would be where he is today because as time’s gone on, he’s got that belief, that belief has grown and grown and grown to point where now, when he goes out onto that pitch, how he performs [he’s thinking] ‘I’m untouchable’."
Liverpool like Ndoye
According to Interlive, Liverpool are 'increasingly likely' to put in a bid for Bologna's Dan Ndoye.
The 23-year-old is capable of playing across the front line on either side of the pitch while favouring the right-hand side, which could prove useful if Salah were to move on.
In Bolgogna's Champions League contest against Liverpool at Anfield earlier in the season, Ndoye was luckless in his ambitions - hitting the woodwork twice - but impressed nonetheless on a nervy night for the Reds.
It is not uncommon for Liverpool's recruits to have had impressive performances against the team before they were signed - Darwin Nunez being the clearest example of them all when he scored twice in Benfica's 6-4 aggregate Champions League loss in 2022.
