Liverpool have plenty of different things to keep an eye on at the moment.

From the big trio's contract saga to freshening up the forward line, Richard Hughes' workload is spread pretty thinly across a number of issues.

And in addition to working on negotiations with Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk, the club is also trying to be aware of opportunistic transfer moves that can unexpectedly open up to help get Arne Slot's Reds some silverware to remember this season.

As such, there has been limited progress reported regarding the ongoing negotiations, but there have been plenty of rumoured moves that the club could make if the conditions are right.

One such move may now be slightly less straightforward than fans may have originally expected.

Madrid have already agreed a deal with Davies

Alphonso Davies at Bayern Munich is regarded as one of, if not, the best left-back in world football, having dominated in his position for a number of years.

The 24-year-old is still at the precipice of his career, but he has been involved in the professional game for almost eight years now.

His contract is set to expire at the end of the season - remind you of anyone - and as such, Bayern are at risk of losing him for free if they cannot agree a new set of terms to keep him in Germany.

In addition, his wages are high but for such an extraordinary player, his value speaks for itself and Liverpool would have an absolute world-beater on their hands if they were to secure his services.

But, as with most things that Liverpool pursue, it seems on the face of it that Real Madrid have got there first, or have they?

In February 2024, it looked as though Real Madrid had an agreement in place with the Canadian, however with it being the middle of the season, he couldn't sign anything and throughout the summer, he didn't commit himself to any club.

As such, it seems that although Real Madrid may still linger in their pursuit of the left-back, he is still very open to any possibilities, including finishing his contract and then resigning with Bayern through receiving a sign-on bonus to represent a transfer fee, per The Athletic.

The report states that Madrid "reached an understanding with Davies’ agency in February on what the terms would be if he were to sign for them in 2024 or 2025, as a free agent with a signing-on bonus."

Current reports do not mention Liverpool as a possible destination for Davies, however, previous reports have acknowledged the club as a potential suitor for him, and he has already stated that a premier league move would be optimal.

In addition to Davies, Liverpool have considered both Fulham's Antonee Robinson and Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez as potential replacements for Andy Robertson, whose career is looking to be in decline following some extremely disappointing performances for the club over the past few months.

However, it appears to me that Davies would be the clear choice over Kerkez, should the club want a player who can come in straight away and perform to a high standard, with little time needed to adapt to the new environment.

Be it through winning the Bundesliga on numerous occasions, or the Champions League, Davies has proven across his career that he can perform at the highest level, and Liverpool might be a perfect fit if they can get a deal across the line.
