Liverpool transfer news: Real Madrid ABANDON Trent Alexander-Arnold plan
Real Madrid have moved on from their Trent Alexander-Arnold plan. Liverpool can breathe a sigh of relief for now.
Revelo reports that Real Madrid have abandoned the idea of signing Trent Alexander-Arnold in January. Los Blancos hoped to bring in the Liverpool vice-captain after Dani Carvajal was ruled out for the campaign.

But that was always unlikely. It never made sense for Liverpool to sell in January - any reasonable offer wasn't worth the value of keeping him for a Premier League and Champions League charge.
Madrid have plainly recognised this and don't believe they'll make a single January signing. That's actually a bigger deal for them that just Alexander-Arnold - Eder Militao's injury leaves them short at centre-back.
Aurelien Tchouameni is expected to deputies as Carlo Ancelotti prepares to attack the rest of the season with what he's got. Zero arrivals, then - and a guarantee that Alexander-Arnold will remain at Liverpool for at least the rest of the season.
Trent Alexander-Arnold's future
Now, Real Madrid certainly haven't abandoned their plan to sign Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer. That very much remains a threat - they'll just have to wait.
Hopefully, of course, they're left waiting.
Alexander-Arnold's contract expires in June and as things stand, he'll be leaving. Liverpool are trying to get him to sign a new one but that's been unsuccessful thus far.
Madrid have been trying since March and at the very least, have Alexander-Arnold's head turned. Liverpool must battle against that and they're running out of time.
Alexander-Arnold can formally talk and agree terms with non-English clubs from January 1st. That's a little over a month away.
Things are only heating up, then. A January transfer is now off the table - but the threat of Real Madrid still looms large.
