Liverpool are eyeing a major overhaul of their attacking options in the summer transfer window. Head coach Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes will permit Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez to depart Anfield should suitable offers be made.

There are also doubts surrounding Federico Chiesa while Mohamed Salah still hasn’t signed a new contract. Another player under scrutiny is Luis Diaz, with Barcelona interested and the Colombia international now entering the final two years of his current contract.

That’s according to GIVEMESPORT, which claims discussions over Diaz’s future have left some staff at the club “irritated”. All added together it could mean a new-look strike line for the Reds next season as Slot attempts to capitalise on this season’s Premier League success.

Some of the strikers linked with an incoming transfer include Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, Hugo Ekitke and Joao Pedro.

Those are the candidates for Liverpool’s soon-to-be vacant No9 position but replacements are also being lined up for the attacking midfield and wing positions.

Cherki back on the menu

An intriguing prospect emerged back in winter when it was claimed that Lyon’s Rayan Cherki could move to Liverpool in January.

It was suggested that the 21-year-old playmaker had a so-called gentleman’s agreement with his club, which would permit him to leave should a £19m transfer fee be forthcoming.

The Reds were not the only team on his case with Bundesliga interest from Bayern Munich.

It’s no wonder top teams like Liverpool and Bayern are interested in Cherki, a wonderfully talented attacker with 18 assists to his name this season across all competitions.

He is comfortable on either wing as well as being able to carry out midfield duties and his versatility is sure to appeal to Slot.

Liverpool's attacking shake-up

“As they weigh up their options, there are also a few whispers that Lyon's Rayan Cherki could come back into their thinking, though how serious that interest is remains to be seen,” claims the GIVEMESPORT report.

Cherki’s current contract with Lyon expires in 2026 and the French Ligue 1 side will be desperate to cash in this summer.

There is little prospect of him extending his stay at his boyhood club and Lyon are facing an acute financial predicament that could necessitate their biggest stars being offloaded.

Liverpool are in a good position to capitalise on the French under-21 international, who has been in and around the first-team picture since the age of 16.

If he arrived he could cover Dominik Szoboszlai’s position in attacking midfield, as well as Salah and Diaz or Cody Gakpo on the wings.
