PSG's interest in Liverpool star is 'real' - but there's a caveat
Liverpool winger Luis Diaz is a potential summer transfer target for Paris Saint-Germain. However, the French side have not made contact with the winger.
Diaz has been the subject of a flurry of transfer stories in recent days.
First, reports originating in his native Colombia claimed that Barcelona had held a meeting with the 27-year-old's agent to discuss the finances of a summer move.
While talk of that meeting and any possibility of a move to Camp Nou was quickly quashed, other stories soon followed claiming interest from more of Europe's elite cubs.
One report alleged that the No. 7 was also on the radars of both PSG and AC Milan, with the French club in particular making plans for a rebuild following Kylian Mbappe's imminent departure.
Mbappe is set to join Real Madrid upon expiry of his contract this summer and there has been plenty of speculation as to how PSG will adapt their forward line for a new era without their superstar main attraction.
PSG shortlist Diaz as Mbappe replacement
According to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra on X, interest in Diaz from PSG is "real", with the the former Porto star having been put on a shortlist of options ahead of the summer transfer window.
Crucially though, he adds that: "However, today there is no progress and they have not contacted him."This largely matches a report from RMC which claimed that Diaz is on the list of post-Mbappe targets. However, that shortlist is far from finalised, while Diaz's inclusion is not unanimous among the decision makers at the Ligue 1 club.
They note that Diaz, who is under contract until 2027, is unlikely to be sold cheaply, speculating that Liverpool are likely to ask for more than €80m (£68m) for the winger. That figure feels like a low estimate on RMC's part.
Diaz, who signed for an initial £37.5m in January 2022, has made 38 appearances so far this season, contributing 11 goals and three assists.
