The 28-year-old has got nine goals and added six assists in the top flight this term, fulfilling a number of different functions in the lineup for head coach Slot.

The Colombian may well be on the move in the summer with Liverpool at odds with the player and his representatives over the terms of a new contract but Diaz’s Liverpool transfer three years ago is continuing to generate headlines.

Porto SHORTCHANGED Luis Diaz transfer fee

Not only that but it’s also earning Diaz’s original club - Junior de Barranquilla - payments long after the deal was completed.

That’s because a recent case in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) concluded that the Colombian club will receive an ADDITIONAL payment from Porto pertaining to Diaz’s move to Liverpool.

The ruling involves an outstanding amount still owed by Porto to Junior. The sum relates to training compensation, agreed at an initial €6 million although Junior claimed €8m.

The payments have been made in installments but according to El Deportivo, Porto UNDERPAID the final amount. Porto should have transferred €1,020,000 but the final payment fell €103 short, meaning Junior ended up with €1,019,897.

Porto owe Junior €103

That €103 shortfall, trivial as it may sound, constituted a breach and the case was heard by the CAS. Porto have been ordered to pay €103 plus five percent annual interest, starting from October 1, 2022, until the payment has been completed.

€103 equates to around £86 at current conversion rates; that wouldn’t get you much in the Liverpool official store these days, not even a printed-up Luis Diaz shirt which is going for around £103.
