Liverpool are reportedly making a move to sign Patrick Dorgu but just who is the player and why are the Reds prepared to make a €40m offer?
It it no secret Liverpool want to sign a left-back in the foreseeable future. Any Robertson is not getting any younger and it makes sense to replace him given his recent struggles in the team.

The left side of defence has almost been the Reds' Achilles heel under Arne Slot. Fixing that will be a priority for Richard Hughes and his recruitment team.
And as reported in Italian media, Liverpool are supposedly 'preparing' a €40m offer for Patrick Dorgu, who the club are big admirers of.
But just who is he? And why do Liverpool want him?
Who is Patrick Dorgu?
Dorgu is a Danish international have been born in Copenhagen and having come through the renowned youth academy of FC Nordsjælland.
He has been playing for Lecce in Italy since 2022, and has already amassed over 50 Serie A appearances despite only being 20-years-old.
A relatively tall player at 1.87 metres, Dorgu is left-footed and quite versatile. His predominant position in his career so far has been left-back but he has also played further forward as a right-winger and as a left-winger as well.
Meanwhile, at international level he has represented Denmark's senior team and making his debut in September last year and scoring his first goal on his debut just minutes after coming on from the bench.
He's made a further three appearances since then, but only one of them has been as a starter.
Why would Liverpool be desperate to sign him?
The club's situation at the moment when it comes to the left-back department is desperate. As is Liverpool's situation in the right-wing department where Mohamed Salah is yet to sign a contract extension.
Curiously, Dorgu would provide depth in both positions.
He's played 10 games as a right-winger for Lecce in the Serie A this season and has three goals in those matches. As a left-footed player and as someone who is very dynamic he fits the profile of what Liverpool would want on the right-wing a lot more than Harvey Elliott or even Federico Chiesa.
Interestingly, as per his Football Critic profile, Dorgu is quite a decisive player. All three of his goals this season have been the first goals in the game breaking the deadlock for his team - a trait Salah also possesses.
His also a good distributor of the ball, averaging 9.9 passes into the final third this season and he can make the difference defensively, too.
Dorgu wins 7.2 duels per 90 from his 13.6 duel attempts, which is around 53%. He tracks back well with an average of 4.9 recoveries per 90 making him an ideal fit for Slot's system at left-back.
When playing in that role, Dorgu is a lot more defensively orientated than Robertson. He'll drop deep and make passes to instigate attacks for his team when in possession.
Obviously, he's capable of going further forward as well but Dorgu's strongest asset as a left-back is his ability to defend - which is exactly where Liverpool's current options have struggled this season.
That is why it makes to go for him, even at the mega price of €40m.
