Liverpool one step closer to signing INCREDIBLE attacker
Liverpool were reported to be interested in Nico Williams last summer.
The Spain winger enjoyed a stellar Euro 2024 and there was a transfer clamour for his signature.

The player’s Athletic Club contract contains a tantalising €58 million release clause although it is accepted that Williams’ wage demands would be sky-high should he opt to leave the Basque Country.
Barcelona were also credited with interest in the 22-year-old but the finances involved mean the hard-up Catalans stayed out of the race.
Williams ultimately remained with Athletic although his form hasn’t been quite as electrifying this season as it was during the Euros. He has scored only once in 17 LaLiga matches - adding three assists - but his enormous potential remains.
And now comes a report which suggests Williams sees his future in the Premier League instead of Spain and that Liverpool are positioned among the favourites for his signature.
Liverpool see Williams as fantastic value
With David Ornstein claiming Liverpool made an attempt for the wideman last summer, it is a chance for FSG and sporting director Richard Hughes to revisit their interest.
According to Rousing the Kop, excitement is growing at Anfield that Williams could be an attainable target in the summer. The Reds would have to compete with Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea to land the forward but decision-makers at the club see his price tag as ‘fantastic’ value.
And with Barcelona out of the running, it's reported that Nico is now convinced that his future lies in the Premier League instead.
Any deal for Williams would be independent of what happens with Mohamed Salah, whose contract runs out in summer 2025.
There could well be a shakeup in the Reds' strike line next summer with uncertainty around not only Salah but Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Federico Chiesa.
Nunez is being targetted by clubs in the Saudi Pro League and Liverpool have already scouted replacements. Diaz is known to be unhappy at his current contract and the club may have to sell before his value runs down significantly.
Chiesa meanwhile probably won’t be released on a loan deal this winter but could be available for a permanent transfer as he struggles to make the grade on Merseyside.
For his part, Williams’ current deal was renewed in 2023 and runs until 2027.
