Liverpool offer 'LIKELY' for 19-year-old South American wonderkid

Liverpool are reportedly 'likely' to make a formal offer for 19-year-old left-back Julio Soler after reports emerged of the Reds' interest in the wonderkid.

The young Argentine impressed at the Summer Olympics in Paris despite being knocked out in the quarter-final and the defender, who represents Club Atletico Lanus in his homeland at club level, has seemingly caught Liverpool's eye.

The ambitious left-back has been viewed as a potential heir to Andy Robertson and could be available for as little as £11.7m this summer.

Soler may not have a great deal of experience at the top level - the Paraguay-born defender has made just 36 senior appearances for Lanus - but that evidently hasn't stopped Liverpool from taking significant interest in him.

In fact, an offer is imminent according to one journalist.

LIVERPOOL READY TO MAKE OFFER FOR JULIO SOLER

As per South American journalist Mariano Antico, Liverpool are yet to approach Lanus with an official offer for Soler but one is 'likely to come'.

If Liverpool can part ways with approximately £11.7m, then it's 'very feasible' a deal can be reached between the two clubs.

Whether the Reds will finalise a move this summer is unclear but it suggests that they're evaluating young players in South America, something they have done fairly infrequently during the Fenway Sports Group era.

It also hints at the fact that a new left-back could be on the cards in the relatively near future, whether that's Soler or someone else.

Robertson has struggled with injuries over the past few seasons, missing several months across 2023/24. He was absent for Liverpool's three pre-season US tour matches due to a nagging fitness issue, too.

The 30-year-old may well thrive under new head coach Arne Slot but there are signs that he may be slowing down at Anfield. With Kostas Tsimikas often an unreliable deputy, a new left-back would be refreshing.
