Liverpool transfer news: Neymar twist brings Reds CLOSER to deal
Liverpool will be watching the situation with Neymar very closely as twists and turns continue to happen at Al-Hilal. It could change their future.
The situation at every Saudi Pro League club is pretty interesting, but Al-Hilal takes the cake. They’re the biggest club in Saudi Arabia and have arguably the best player in the league, Neymar.
Only, he never plays. Neymar picked up a serious injury almost immediately after joining in 2023 and while he recently made a comeback, another injury will keep him out for up to eight weeks.

That’s brought about speculation that Neymar could see his contract terminated at Al-Hilal. There’s no point having him around if he can’t be the star attraction they want, after all.
The entire project is built on the idea of star players bringing eyes to the Saudi league. Neymar has instead just picked up enormous pay cheques for doing nothing.
And that brings Liverpool into the situation.
Mo Salah in, Neymar out?
Speculation has been rife that Mo Salah is the pick for Al-Hilal to replace Neymar. He could be the biggest star in the league, after all, and they’ve already attempted to pay a record fee to get him to a different club over there.
That’s a problem for Liverpool as they try to tie the Egyptian down to a new contract. Negotiation is already intense - let alone when there’s the prospects of Saudi money lurking in the background.
However, Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany claims Neymar isn’t on his way out of Al-Hilal. Or at least, no one has let the player know that’s a possibility.
If he stays, it becomes a lot more difficult for the Saudi Pro League to sign Salah. Al-Hilal would essentially cease to be a landing spot for and one fewer club is a boost for Liverpool.
Anything that weakens the Saudi position brings the Reds that bit closer to a deal with Salah. We’ll take this as very positive news as a result.
Fingers crossed.
