Liverpool have their eyes on the next Sadio Mane - and he's a Red. Next stop, Anfield.

Anfield Watch exclusively revealed that Liverpool will look to overhaul their attack in the summer, moving for players who can lead the team in a new era. This, after all, isn't Arne Slot's forward line.

Not that it was really Jurgen Klopp's, either. This was an attempt to replace Klopp's ultimate forward line after Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino left the club.

Mo Salah has remained, of course. He's been the one constant since 2017 and everyone else has played around him.

But it's fair to say that the current lot haven't lived up to the front three of the Klopp era. Luis Diaz did briefly look as though he could replace Mane on the left but he's fallen short.

As for Firmino - the Brazilian is so unique that we're not getting another one.

Mane, though, might just have a successor. Liverpool have eyes on him, too, and that successor could potentially do it for club and country.

From Mane to Diao

Senegalese journalist Khadim Diakhaté reports that Liverpool (and Newcastle United) have eyes on Assane Diao. The winger is lighting up Serie A since joining Como in January.

Five goals in eight Serie A games is a lightning start. It'll naturally draw interest and Liverpool are now weighing up the 19-year-old.

It appears Liverpool have an advantage in any fight for him, too.

Diao was asked by PostUnited back in October 2023 (as relayed by Football Transfers) to name a favourite team. His answer? Liverpool.

Despite representing Spain at youth international level, Diao is Senegalese, having moved to Europe when he was three. It makes comparisons to Mane very easy to make, even if they're not quite identical players.

Diao, for one, is over 6ft tall. He also has a long way to go in football before he's at the level of his compatriot - Mane is one of the best we've seen, after all.

But it does seem as though Liverpool may have found as close to a 'next Mane' as they're going to find. If he keeps up his current form, no one should rule it out.
