Liverpool’s interest in Alexander Isak is no secret.

A deal won’t be easy, but the Reds seem determined to land their man, and a number of players could swap Anfield for St James’ Park to make it happen.

Anfield Watch exclusively revealed last month that Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez could all depart Merseyside this summer as part of a huge overhaul of Arne Slot’s attacking options.

Mohamed Salah’s future is also still a mystery, and Liverpool will be desperate to bring in a superstar to keep Slot’s side competitive next year.

Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes will be working hard to put together an acceptable package for Newcastle, and a few players could be thrown in to sweeten the deal.

Part-exchange could be key to Isak deal

Newcastle have long-standing interest in Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah and are planning on returning for the latter this summer according to recent reports.

One of these defenders could be included in a deal, but it’s likely Newcastle would be after some attacking firepower to help replace their talisman.

Darwin Nunez, who was the subject of a bid from Saudi Arabia in January, has been touted as a potential makeweight in the deal – but a new report has now ruled that out.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Newcastle aren’t interested in bringing the Uruguayan to the Northeast in the summer, but there are two Liverpool forwards that they would be keen on.

The report names Jota and Harvey Elliott as player Newcastle would be interested in should Liverpool pursue a swap deal for Isak.

Elliott and Jota both to make way for Isak

As mentioned above, Jota’s departure is expected this summer – in part due to the 28-year-old’s injury record and inconsistent form – and a move to Newcastle could be an ideal solution for the Reds.

Elliott’s future has also been called into question recently, with the Englishman being given less than 600 minutes so far this season.

Both players could be directly included in a deal for Isak or could be sold to Newcastle separately but as part of a wider agreement.

The second pathway has been used by a number of teams to aid their PSR compliance, but the Reds boast a healthy PSR record and likely wouldn’t need to carry out the deal in this way.

Liverpool supporters will be desperate to see Isak make the switch to Merseyside in the summer, even if it does mean losing Jota and Elliott, and the deal of the summer may have just moved a step closer to reality.
