As Liverpool look to the future amid speculation around Mohamed Salah’s potential departure, the club are trying to identify who could replace him.

The winger is out of contract next summer. Currently, there is no talk to extend the Egyptian's deal beyond June 2025.

That's despite him once again being a pivotal part of Liverpool's attack with 15 goal contributions in 13 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

Should talks remain at a standstill, Salah will be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement from January 1 meaning the Reds could only have a matter of months to find his replacement.

Three-man shortlist to replace Salah

Clubs from the Saudi Pro League are expected to present him with formal contract offers in January, potentially allowing him to become one of the highest-paid players in the world. Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly interested in signing the winger.

According to TEAMtalk, while Liverpool are currently keeping tabs on Napoli superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, he is not top of the list to replace the Egyptian.

Sporting director Richard Hughes has reportedly identified Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo, Borussia Dortmund's Karim Adeyemi and Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane as their top targets for a long-term replacement for Salah.

Could Liverpool have other options?

Similar to Salah, Sane’s contract expires at the end of the season, meaning he could be available on a free transfer if he doesn’t sign a new deal with Bayern Munich.

In contrast, Kubo and Adeyemi are expected to be much more affordable options compared to Kvaratskhelia, who Napoli values at over €100 million (£84 million)

However, could the Reds have other options closer to home?

Despite only being about to turn 19 in early November, Ben Doak has shown heaps of potential while on loan at Middlesborough and appears wise beyond his years.

The Championship is no joke, with a demanding schedule and a host of hardened veterans to play against. If Doak is able to continue his shining streak then it has very positive implications for Liverpool.
