Liverpool's main Mo Salah contract obstacle REVEALED
Liverpool’s start to the season has been almost perfect, but there is a huge issue lurking in the background that could ruin it all.
Arne Slot currently has his side top of the Premier League, eight points clear of Manchester City in second place after only 12 games.

The dark cloud overshadowing the Reds’ early season success is the contract saga currently unfolding with three of the club’s biggest stars, Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
As it stands all three will be leaving Anfield in the summer for free, and although negotiations for extensions are reportedly underway, they appear to be stalling.
Now, the main sticking point in Liverpool’s negotiations with Salah has been revealed.
Liverpool and Salah have reached an impasse
Salah added fuel to the fire following the Reds’ comeback victory over Southampton on Sunday when he stopped to give a rare interview in the mixed zone after the match.
The 32-year-old shared how he was disappointed to have not received an offer from the club yet, and that he was “probably more out than in” at this stage.
Now, a report from TBR Football has revealed the main issue that has arisen from the club’s negotiations with the Egyptian King.
The report states that the length of the proposed extension is proving a problem for both parties, with Salah desiring a three-year deal, or a two-year deal with an option of a third, but Liverpool unsure about committing to such a long agreement.
The length of the extension isn’t the only disagreement between the parties, but it has been the biggest point of contention in negotiations.
What could Salah’s future look like?
The main source of interest in the Egyptian forward is reportedly the Saudi Pro League, but there has also been interest from a number of top European teams too, including PSG and Barcelona.
New MLS side San Diego FC were also rumoured to have Salah as a target should he become available on a free transfer this summer.
It is clear that Salah will not be short of suitors if he does leave Merseyside, but staying at Liverpool isn’t out of the picture yet.
FSG and Liverpool are dubious about extending Salah’s contract for the duration he desires because of his age, but his form this season is already proving he is still an elite player, and they may decide it is worth taking the risk.
Only time will tell if Salah will still be at Anfield next season, but supporters will be hopeful that an agreement can be reached, and that the Egyptian King will continue to bring success to Liverpool for years to come.
