While Mohamed Salah remains at risk of leaving Liverpool this summer, transfer rumours surrounding the player are only set to increase.

The forward can negotiate with other clubs about his future from January 1, should the club's contract negotiations continue to stall.

Salah is currently on track for a remarkable season, having already reached 10 goals and 10 assists this campaign, while we are still only in November.

He remains at the heart of Liverpool's attacking play and fans are hoping to not have to even consider the possibility that the Egyptian will depart Merseyside come May next year.

Lingering Saudi interest in Salah

Over the past few seasons, the Saudi Pro League has taken football by storm, managing to persuade big-name players with hefty contracts, as a result of the league being underpinned by the country's Public Investment Fund.

Many have condemned players who have left, claiming the country is making such investments as an attempt to engage in sportswashing, whereby the general public forgets about the negative perceptions of a country.

But many players have made the move, including ex-Reds Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Fabinho, to name a few.

Salah himself has received numerous credible offers, over the £100million mark according to reports, but Liverpool have always managed to keep hold of their star winger, and his commitment to the club has been unwavering.

Yet now on the verge of being out of contract, without a club to play at next season, it is increasingly likely that the Saudis may get their way in having Salah as the face of their league.

Neymar move ramps up Salah speculation

Over at Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, the biggest team in the league, statement signing Neymar made the move from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023.

Having been plagued by injuries during his time in the Middle East, speculation around where the Brazilian winger's future initially came from reports of a potential contract termination.

Neymar has been on a remarkable amount of money for spending his time in Saudi, yet his appearances have been few and far between.

But now, TeamTalk is reporting that Neymar has agreed to return to his home club Santos, where he began his career, now that the team has returned to Brazil's top-flight league.

As a result, the Saudis would soon be looking for a new player to headline their flagship club, and Salah could be the perfect player to do so.

Like with Neymar, enormous wages may be presented to Salah in order to convince him away from moving to another European team, but the closer proximity to his home country Egypt may also be a factor.

Obviously, Salah still has the opportunity to remain at Liverpool, should the ongoing contract negotiations find a breakthrough, but while that situation remains unresolved, a clear pathway away from Merseyside seems to be opening up.
