Liverpool risk upsetting EVERYONE with list of stars to replace Mo Salah
Liverpool risk upsetting everyone with their reported list of replacements for Mo Salah. The Egyptian could leave this summer.
As things stand, Mo Salah will leave Liverpool in the summer. The Egyptian's contract expires in on June 30th and is yet to agree a new one with the Reds.

There have been offers, of course, but none that Salah has been happy with. It's a delicate process, in truth, and one that will leave at least one side taking a massive risk.
Liverpool don't like the fact that Salah turns 33 this summer. Salah, however, is pretty powerless to change that fact about himself.
It leaves things at a standoff. Salah believes his form this season should see him paid as one of the world's best players. Liverpool believe his decline could come at any moment and they don't want to be stuck paying an absolute fortune to a player who can't deliver on it.
So what do you do? Well, you prepare for the eventuality that no new deal arrives. Both sides will still try to find an agreement but they each need to set themselves in case that agreement never arrives.

For Liverpool, that means drawing up a list of potential replacements - and they're reportedly done just that.
Liverpool's list of replacements
The Daily Mail published an apparent list of Liverpool's potential replacements for Salah this summer. Now, it's not a completely extensive list but it gives a flavour of what the Reds would be after.

"The replacements Liverpool have looked at include Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens and Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo," they write.
Now, they are some very talented names and we'd actually like to see all of those players at Liverpool. But as a replacement for Salah? None of them come close.
We're talking about the most productive forward on the planet this season and one that remarkably few players can even come close to matching. Grabbing a player like Mbeumo will see Liverpool take a massive downgrade.
And that's no slight on Mbeumo, either - he's brilliant. He's just also never shown anything like the kind of form Salah can muster.
This is why Liverpool are going to upset fans. There is no Salah replacement - just a series of players who could maybe play that role. None of them can play it as well and none of them offer any great hope of being anywhere near as good as him.

It would be another thing entirely if Liverpool were struggling to re-sign Salah but had Lamine Yamal waiting in the wings - but they don't. Instead, they're worried about overpaying the Egyptian while knowing full well that the team will take a giant step back if he doesn't continue at Anfield.
Liverpool need a plan here because it feels as though they don't have one. As things stand, they're simply guaranteeing that things will be worse next season but with a bit more cash in the pocket.
