Mo Salah has rejected an absolutely insane amount of money in order to stay at Liverpool. A true legend of the club.

It's been fairly unclear what's going to happen with Salah, after all. More so than with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Van Dijk has always looked likely to remain with the club and Anfield Watch has long believed that would be the case. Alexander-Arnold, on the other hand, has always looked likely to leave Liverpool.

Real Madrid are there waiting and have courted him for over a year now. It's difficult to see the Scouser staying.

But with Salah, things could have gone either way. He's Liverpool's best-paid player (ever, actually) and there's more interest in him than with anyone else.

Particularly from Saudi Arabia, where Salah is seen as something of a dream signing. They attempted to bring him to the Saudi Pro League a couple of years ago, only to fail.

And they've tried again this year, too. Salah, though, has turned down an unbelievable amount of money to remain with the Reds.

Salah rejects Saudi Pro League

The Telegraph understands that Salah's new contract at Liverpool will pay around £25m each year. It's a two-year deal and we'll do the maths for you: it's £50m from the Reds.

Compare that to the supposed offer from Saudi Arabia. Egyptian journalist Ismael Mahmoud of WinWinAll Sports claims the Pro League was ready to put up around £130m per year for Salah.

The forward could have earned around £260m over the next two years, then. He'll instead take home around £50m (though, the difference is even greater when taking tax into account).

It's all quite incredible when you think about it. Salah is so determined to leave a legacy that even obscene wealth won't sway him.

Now, it's entirely possible that the Saudi offer is still there in two years' time. He might still make that kind of money one day.

But there's no escaping the fact that Salah has turned around over £200m to spend his next two years at Liverpool. It's a display of loyalty unlike any other we've seen.

Well to be fair if it was me I'd stay too. You'll never spend that amount of money. Plus he knows the Saudi league is crap so why would he give up the best league in the world to go to one of the worst. Just shows how much he loves the club and isn't just a money grabber like some ex players were.
