The club and the Egyptian King’s entourage have been locked in fruitless talks over the course of the season but neither side has budged in negotiations.

That impasse brings potential suitors to the table with the 32-year-old entitled to speak to any overseas club about a potential free transfer since January 1, 2025.

And it has been reported that Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia have put forward a mammoth, world-record deal for Salah, who currently earns £350,000 per week on Merseyside.

The offer to Salah was said to ensure he would take over from Cristiano Ronaldo as the face of the Saudi Pro League.

Salah has not given a definitive yes to leading Al-Hilal in their upcoming FIFA Club World Cup campaign but there are indications he is leaning towards leaving despite his desire to stay at Anfield in order to break records.

Mido says Salah should BUY Liverpool

And the Egypt captain has now received some offbeat advice from his compatriot and former Pharaohs goalscorer Mido.

The ex-striker, 41, played for the likes of Ajax, Marseille and Tottenham throughout his career and now recommends Salah take the money and RUN to the Saudi Pro League.

At the Football Access conference in Cairo, he said Salah should accept what’s on offer in the Kingdom before making an even more unprecedented move. Mido thinks Salah should then RETURN to Liverpool and take up a position as part-owner.

That, he suggests, guarantees Salah earning whatever he desires from the club.

“My advice to Mohamed Salah is to move to the Saudi League and get 150 million riyals annually,” he said according to quotes in Masrawy.

It must be added here that 150m Saudi riyals equates to around £32m, far beneath the initial world-record sums suggested but still around £600,000 per week. Perhaps a slip of the tongue?

"After spending three years there, he can come back and buy 15% of Liverpool's shares and set a huge salary for himself, so he can earn everything.

“With a three-year contract, he will get 450 million riyals, and considering Liverpool’s value, he can buy 20% of the club and set a large salary for himself, and thus he achieved everything he wished for.”

OK.

Well, Mido, Liverpool were valued at around £4.3 billion by Forbes last year and so the potential £90m or so supposedly on offer in Saudi Arabia would barely cover 2 percent of Liverpool let alone 20 percent.

However, if Mido has indeed got his currencies mixed up then it would push Salah’s potential stake over the 10 percent mark.

The final Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park will kick-off at 19:30 GMT and will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 1. Watch the match LIVE.

Let’s hope Mo isn’t taking financial advice from Mido on this occasion and decides to remain at Liverpool beyond the summer.
