Advantage Liverpool in contract talks after Marcus Rashford BOMBSHELL
Liverpool are firing on all cylinders in the Premier League and Champions League this season.
Arne Slot is getting the best out of the squad already at his disposal, only recruiting Federico Chiesa during his first transfer window.
EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool ready to splash the cash on Arne Slot's PERFECT no.10
Instead of acquiring new talents in the market, Slot has instead set about improving the performances of those already on the books.
Players like Ibrahima Konate and Ryan Gravenberch have taken their games to another level while the Reds’ strike line has been effective all season long.
Salah and Diaz linked with exit
Mohamed Salah cut an unhappy figure at times during Jurgen Klopp’s final season in charge, falling out with the German away at West Ham in April. But he’s a player reborn this term, carrying off the Premier League’s November Player of the Month award and looking like the early favourite for next year’s Ballon d’Or.
Likewise Luis Diaz is playing the best football of his Liverpool career, netting a hat-trick in the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen last month. The Colombia international has been splitting left-wing duties with Cody Gakpo as well as filling in up top when Diogo Jota has been unavailable.
However considerable transfer uncertainty surrounds both Liverpool forwards. Salah is out of contract in 2025 with no breakthrough yet reached in negotiations over a new deal. Accordingly the 32-year-old has been linked with moves to Saudi Arabia and Paris Saint-Germain, with club president Nasser al-Khelaifi admitting he ‘loves’ the Egyptian forward.
Rashford up for sale
Diaz is also a reported target for PSG as well as Barcelona with the 27-year-old said to be unhappy with the amount he earns at Liverpool. Reds fans might well fear losing Salah and Diaz next summer given the reported transfer interest.
But those mooted destinations could well be taken off the menu given the latest transfer developments at Manchester United. It’s been reported by the Telegraph that Marcus Rashford has been put up for sale by Ruben Amorim’s side amid concerns over his off-field lifestyle.
Saudi and PSG potential destinations
And the list of possible destinations for the 27-year-old includes Saudi Arabia and PSG. While it’s reported that Man Utd would be content with a modest transfer fee, Rashford would still end up costing a fortune given he earns around £325,000 per week at Old Trafford.
Should he move to Saudi Arabia or PSG, it is highly unlikely that either party would end up going for Salah or Diaz too. Rashford is a direct competitor for Diaz positionally while it’s hard to see the likes of PSG go for the England international and Salah together.
Potentially, Liverpool might see interested parties for their players disappear if Rashford is picked up by PSG or a club in Saudi Arabia in January or else in summer. And that could well mean a lack of viable options for Salah and Diaz, ensuring a longer Anfield stay.
