If the former striker knows anything about Salah’s next destination then he is keeping it a closely-guarded secret. He admitted that he wasn’t sure where his star striker would end up, adding that the situation facing Salah is a difficult one.

This is a crucial decision facing the Egypt captain, who will turn 33 before the start of next season.

'It's not an easy situation'

“I will be the first to support and stand by Salah in any decision he makes,” he said, according to WinWin journalist Ismael Mahmoud.

“I know it’s not an easy situation, but he is a great player who will handle it well. I wish him success wherever he goes—he is Egypt’s finest ambassador.”
