Liverpool are facing a triple contract blow in the summer of 2025 with Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Reds’ all-star trio all see their terms expire next summer with no new breakthrough reached in negotiations so far.

While Alexander-Arnold was described as a ‘priority’ for sporting director Richard Hughes, the Englishman remains firmly on the radar of Real Madrid. Van Dijk, meanwhile, will be 34 next summer and has been linked to a move to the Bundesliga as well as Saudi Arabia.

More outlandishly, the Dutchman was also linked with a move to Real Madrid last week.

Liverpool want Raphinha to replace Salah

Salah is expected to be subject of transfer interest from Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia while there may be options available to him in Europe in the shape of Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Barcelona.

And should the Reds end up losing Salah then his replacement could end coming from Camp Nou. Raphinha has been among the most in-form players in La Liga this season, leading Hansi Flick’s side to an early lead in the race for the Spanish title.

The Brazil international has 12 goals and 10 assists in just 17 games for his club this season, becoming one of the side’s leaders in the process.

Former Leeds winger Raphinha is under contract until 2027 but Catalan media now FEAR that Liverpool will come calling should they end up losing Salah according to El Nacional.

It wouldn’t be the first time Reds were linked with Raphinha, with interest reportedly materialising when he was at Elland Road.

However, given Barcelona’s precarious finances, it’s unlikely they would be in a position to fend off bids should they come in next summer.

It must be added that Catalan media believe Liverpool will end up renewing Salah, claiming that the club will improve the terms the Egyptian is currently on, but so far there has been no indication that an agreement is near.

While fans would love to see Salah remain at the club in order to break records, Raphinha is probably the only player in Europe on form who can compete with him at this moment in time.
