Milos Kerkez is believed to be the top target and initial talks have been held to bring the Hungarian to Anfield, as exclusively revealed by Anfield Watch.
There is also reportedly interest in Benfica's Alvaro Carreras, and Liverpool were keen on Patrick Dorgu before he made a January switch to Manchester United.
On Sunday however, a long-time Liverpool target once again showed exactly why the Reds should be after him, and it might make the search for a new left-back a bit more complicated.
Rayan Ait-Nouri excels in Anfield audition, again!
There were many talking points to come from Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Wolves on Sunday, but one of the biggest was the performance of Rayan Ait-Nouri at left-back.
The 23-year-old put on an impressive display, keeping Mohamed Salah very quiet for the duration, and Liverpool’s chairman Tom Werner was in the crowd to witness it too.

It isn’t the first time the defender has brought his A-game against Liverpool, and his most recent Anfield audition has left many Reds thinking that he is the obvious heir to Robertson’s spot.
After such an impressive display, Kerkez’s title as Liverpool’s top target could be in doubt, and the recruitment team at Anfield certainly have a tough decision to make.
Who should be Liverpool’s next left-back?
Whilst Kerkez is certainly the hottest name in his position this season, he is still breaking out at Bournemouth and has a lot to prove.
The 21-year-old is only in his second season in the Premier League and, although he has been impressive this campaign, there is not yet the guarantee that this form isn’t just a flash in the pan.
Ait-Nouri on the other hand is in his fifth season in the English topflight, and he has been a regular for Wolves since he was a teenager.
Ait-Nouri is more of a sure thing at left-back. He has proven that in recent years, especially against Liverpool, and his superior experience could see him leapfrog Kerkez on Liverpool’s wish list.
