It’s no secret that Liverpool have identified left-back as an area requiring an upgrade in forthcoming transfer windows.

Andy Robertson hasn’t been at his consistent best throughout this season with an own goal on Sunday against West Ham almost costing the Reds the win.

Sporting director Richard Hughes and head coach Arne Slot are known to be running the rule over several contenders to arrive in summer with Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez high up on the list.

The 21-year-old could be available for around £45 million with Hughes having signed Kerkez once before. He was technical director at Bournemouth when the Hungary international was acquired from AZ back in 2023.

And it looks like Bournemouth could be making plans to lose Kerkez as they identify a new left-back to come into the club.

Bournemouth like Hugo Bueno

Hugo Bueno, 22, is currently on loan at Arne Slot’s former club Feyenoord from Premier League side Wolves.

The Spain under-21 international has been a Champions League mainstay for the Rotterdam side, with Quilindschy Hartman not registered for the competition after long-term injury.

But his performances on loan at Feyenoord have been sufficient to alert interested clubs to his potential availability with Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Barcelona all previously linked.

Bueno joined Wolves from Areosa in Spain back in 2019 for only £3,000 and has gone on to rise through the ranks at Molineux. He’s played 48 times for the Wolves first team but sees his pathway blocked by another reported Liverpool target in Rayan Ait-Nouri.

Liverpool get Kerkez green light

As such it was decided that first-team football in the Eredivisie would serve him well and now Bournemouth are on his trail.

“Bournemouth are very interested in Feyenoord's Hugo Bueno,” Relevo’s Mateo Moretto writes on X. “The Spanish full-back is a real option for the English club this summer.”

Bournemouth also signed Argentina youngster Julio Soler in the winter transfer window - another player linked with Liverpool - and appear to have several options at left-back for next season.

This could well be a sign that Kerkez is ready to move on. Hughes - and Hungary international captain Dominik Szoboszlai - will be waiting to greet him at Anfield.
