Liverpool are set for a blockbuster summer with an overhaul of the club’s attacking options planned.

Anfield Watch revealed that Arne Slot intended to upgrade his strike line because Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez were struggling to make the grade.

The Reds have been heavily reliant on goals and assists from Mohamed Salah this season. Nunez hasn’t convinced Slot, who has seen him primarily as a substitute, while Diogo Jota’s issues with form and fitness could now cost him his Liverpool future.

Liverpool would love to clear the decks in order to make way for a heavyweight summer arrival. Alexander Isak is the dream but Hugo Ekitike, Joao Pedro and Viktor Gyokeres have also been linked with an Anfield move.

Isak, 26, has been valued at around £150 million by current club Newcastle and his wage outlay is also likely to be enormous. But if Liverpool can find buyers for Jota and Nunez then a deal could well be achievable.

Arsenal want Jota AND Nunez

In what could be a dream move, it appears that ARSENAL are now ready to relieve Liverpool of their striking burden and potentially free up the cash for Isak or another forward.

We previously reported that the Gunners were among the teams who could find a home for Jota should Liverpool decide to cash in.

The Portugal international, 28, is under contract until 2027 at Anfield and the club could reasonably bank around £40m for his services.

And now it’s been revealed that Mikel Arteta is a big fan of Darwin Nunez and believes the Uruguayan could augment his current striking options. That’s according to a new report in Fichajes, which claims the Spaniard sees the 25-year-old as a useful rotation option.

Liverpool were close to selling Nunez in the winter transfer window but pulled out of a Saudi Pro League transfer owing to a lack of viable alternatives.

However, should any interested party match the club’s valuation of around £75m then Nunez could well be on his way.

So if Liverpool bank £40m from Arsenal for Jota and another £75m for Nunez then it would leave them just £35m short of Newcastle’s Isak asking price.

That would go a long way towards securing the Swede’s signature and the deal would be made all the sweeter because Arsenal will have paid most of it.
