Liverpool's undeniable Micky van de Ven transfer stance
Arne Slot has exceeded almost all expectations so far at Liverpool, and he’s done so without really making any additions to the team.

The only addition to the playing squad since Slot took office was Federico Chiesa, who arrived late in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool have come close to signing other players in that time, with a deal for Zubimendi almost done in the summer, but supporters are starting to wonder who the next addition to Slot’s side will be.
One name that has gathered a lot of momentum in recent days is Micky van de Ven, who is once again being linked with a move to Anfield.
The question is: would a move for Van de Ven be worth the risk?
Liverpool and Micky van de Ven
There is some history between Liverpool and Van de Ven, who was a target for the Reds before he moved from VfL Wolfsburg to Tottenham.
Liverpool passed on the opportunity to sign the Dutch defender at the time, but they could have another opportunity to bring him to Merseyside.
The big issue with Van de Ven is his injury record. The 23-year-old has missed 46 games since he signed for Spurs at the start of last season.

The Dutchman has had six injuries in that time, and his injury record looks very similar when looking back further in his career. He’s missed 84 games through injury and only made 140 senior appearances.
It is worth highlighting that the central defender is currently injured too.
Should Liverpool take the risk on Van de Ven?
Liverpool have been known to take a shot on previously injury prone players before, but it has rarely worked.
Thiago and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain both had patchy injury records before they signed for the Reds and these issues were never solved during their time in Merseyside.
One of Liverpool’s own central defenders, Ibrahima Konate, has also struggled with his own injury problems over the last few seasons.
Liverpool are in need of defensive reinforcements, with Joe Gomez seemingly perpetually injured and Virgil van Dijk yet to extend his soon-expiring contract, and Van de Ven could be an option the Reds explore when the time comes to make additions.
The Tottenham man’s injury record, and the likely high fee that Liverpool would have to pay to encourage Spurs to sell to a rival may be sticking points.

With Konate’s own injury issues persisting and question marks over the future of Van Dijk, if Liverpool are looking to bring another central defender in they should look beyond Van de Ven to a target who could be relied upon to come in and be a rock in Slot’s back line.
