Liverpool transfer news: Player formally REJECTS Reds after talks in 'recent days'
Liverpool have been formally rejected by one of their transfer targets this week. The Reds tried to convince him in recent talks.
Liverpool won't be signing Max Beier this summer after the forward decided to join Borussia Dortmund. The German had been heavily rumoured to sign with Dortmund and that was now reportedly gone through.
Florian Plettenberg makes the claim, saying it'll cost around £25m. Only a medical stands in the way and things should all be officially confirmed before long.

This comes after previous claims from Plettenberg that Liverpool were pushing to sign Beier. As recently as last week, they supposedly held some sort of talks but couldn't convince the player to head to Anfield.
Links go back around eight months, though. This is one that appeared to be generating momentum at one point - instead, Beier heads to Dortmund.
Max Beier to Dortmund
This one was quite a loud rumour at the start of the year but went very quiet as time went on. Honestly, it was a surprise to hear any talk in recent weeks that Liverpool were still pushing.
It was always going to be difficult to convince him to sign for the Reds over Dortmund, for one thing. They can offer him a much better role than Liverpool - proper, regular football. He was always unlikely to get too many chances at Anfield, even being as good as he is.
Just too many forwards to contend with for a 21-year-old still finding his way in the game.
Instead, we don't imagine any central forwards will arrive in this transfer window. There's half a chance that Anthony Gordon arrives as a winger but even that looks unlikely at this stage.
Liverpool's hopes of a big window almost certainly rests on Martin Zubimendi and whether he's willing to leave Real Sociedad. Time will tell there.
