Real Sociedad’s broken promises OPEN Liverpool door for MASSIVE Martin Zubimendi transfer
Martin Zubimendi has become one of the stories of the season in Liverpool circles, representing the ideal investment that would build towards a new period of dominance for the side.
He realistically should have already been at the club with Liverpool matching his £50m release clause in the summer.

But Zubimendi’s rejection of the offer left Liverpool in the lurch and without any obvious defensive midfielder in the side.
If Zubimendi didn’t reject the deal then the Reds would never have discovered what they have with Ryan Gravenberch in the position.
So whilst it arguably might have been a net positive, the club are still interested in securing Zubimendi’s services. And a new interview with Real Sociedad President Jokin Aperribay has just made that one step closer to happening.
After rejecting Liverpool’s offer, rumours emerged that Sociedad had promised Zubimendi a new contract, almost certainly with an increased salary.
But Aperribay suggests this wasn’t the case.
Liverpool can offer what Sociedad can't
“There have been no conversations with Zubimendi to renew his contract,” Aperribay said in an interview with Noticias de Gipuzkoa.
“There has not been now and there has not been before. He did not put any conditions on us.
“He understood the moment and knew that it was a market in which some players were already going to leave, and he understood that it was time to stay at Real Sociedad.
“He has not put a renewal as a condition nor have we talked about it. The conversation with Martín was short and quick.”
This can only put Liverpool in pole position to give Zubimendi an offer he can’t refuse.
Despite the Spanish international’s affinity with his current club, recent reports have indicated that he would actually be open to a move to Anfield. Liverpool’s form this season won’t have done anything to discourage that.
And purely financially Liverpool will be able to offer top compensation and the opportunity to play for the best team in the world. It’s a win-win for Zubimendi in the face of slight disrespect from his current side.
