Liverpool take first step to SIGNING Marcus Thuram

Liverpool are huge fans of Marcus Thuram and are readying a reportedly move for the Frenchman.

Teamtalk reports that Liverpool are in the market for Marcus Thuram. The Frenchman is lighting up Serie A right now and it appears the Reds are big fans.

Thuram currently boasts 12 goals and three assists for Inter in the top flight this season. He's been their star man, scoring some spectacular goals on the way.

For some perspective on just how much he's improved this season: Thuram has played exactly half as many games as he did in the previous campaign but is just one goal away from matching his 2023/24 tally.

And the important thing here is that Thuram's release clause was put into his contract before the explosion in form. He can be snapped up for around £70m with that clause but even better, Inter are willing to negotiate.

They could accept slightly less than that for the Frenchman. Liverpool, for what it's worth, are said here to have assessed the price and decided it's fair.

That's step one, then - the Reds believe this deal is one worth pursuing. Now we just want and see.

And Marcus Thuram's not the only one

Teamtalk also claim that Alexander Isak is on Liverpool's shortlist. The Reds were linked with him a few years ago, before the move to Newcastle United from Real Sociedad.

And his form this season is such that Liverpool are back considering the Swede. The problem there is that he's now much, much more expensive.

It seems highly unlikely that Liverpool could persuade Newcastle to sell Isak and that's one of the reasons they're looking at Thuram. While the latter is now 27, he's value for money - and could still lead the line for the Reds over the next few years.

This promises to be a busy year for those striking deals at Liverpool. Thuram, though, could be one of them.

And with a bit of luck, maybe Isak could be.
