Liverpool get transfer green light as England man DEMANDS to leave
Liverpool are eyeing reinforcements at centre-back with increasing uncertainty around the current options in the position.
Virgil van Dijk’s contract situation is causing concern for supporters with rival clubs now said to be attempting to lure the Dutchman away from Anfield.
Liverpool Transfer News: Defender confirms move as Reds ready to steal club captain
The 33-year-old is out of contract in summer 2025 and the player has admitted that he has no idea where he will be next season. His preferred partner at the heart of defence this season has been Ibrahima Konate, who is out of contract at Anfield in 2026.

If there is no breakthrough over a new deal for the Frenchman then sporting director Richard Hughes may have no choice but to listen to offers from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Back-up defenders - like Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah - are also under pressure for their places in the squad and could well be sacrificed in the summer.
It means at least one centre-back is likely to arrive in the transfer window and the Reds have received a timely boost in their attempts to line up a deal for a long-standing target.
Marc Guehi to QUIT Crystal Palace
Marc Guehi, 24, is the Crystal Palace captain who has played 27 times for the Eagles in the Premier League this season. The 22-cap England international has scored three goals in the top flight this term for Oliver Glasner’s side as well as adding three assists.
Like Konate, he is out of contract in 2026 at Selhurst Park and sooner or later a reckoning is going to come for club decision-makers. Palace rejected a mammoth offer from Tottenham on the winter transfer window’s deadline day but interest is going to be harder to fend off this summer.
Tottenham are likely to be back and interest has now been reported from Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool in Guehi.
That’s according to the latest report in Caught Offside, which claims the Ivorian-born defender is ready to inform Crystal Palace that he wants to leave the club in the summer.
That would be welcome news for Liverpool, who could be set for a summer defensive reshuffle.

Guehi is a Chelsea academy product, who joined Palace initially for around £20 million back in 2021. He has since established himself in the England reckoning as well as becoming one of the most renowned centre-backs in the Premier League.
