'Senior' Liverpool sources drop update on £75m transfer
Here's what Liverpool sources are reportedly saying about a potential £75m deal. The Reds are linked with all sorts right now.
Liverpool are involved in a lot of transfer talk right now. And that goes beyond just the immediate issue of sorting out contracts.
EXCLUSIVE: Expert lowdown on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all out of contract in the summer. The Reds have got to sort that one out - or all three will depart without compensation.
But there's more. Ben Doak is the subject of transfer offers, with Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town both trying to sign him this month.
Then there's interest in Darwin Nunez from Saudi Arabia, as exclusively revealed by Anfield Watch. The Reds already have eyes on replacements, too, with both Victor Osimhen and Stefanos Tzimas on the agenda (again, both revealed by Anfield Watch).
And now we've got reports claiming Liverpool are eyeing up the situation around Kvicha Kvaratskhelia. That's certainly an exciting one - and could be the biggest move anyone makes in the January transfer window.
Liverpool and Marc Guehi
Liverpool have also been linked with Palace's captain, Marc Guehi. The centre-back will have just one year remaining on his contract come July.
It creates an interesting situation, given Palace rejected around £75m for Guehi last summer. Chelsea are said to be very interested, while there are claims he wants to wait for Liverpool.
But it appears he may be waiting a while. The Athletic references 'senior sources' at Liverpool, saying they're playing down all speculation linking them with Guehi.
At the same time, the outlet makes one thing clear - Liverpool can't really rule out anything until the future of Van Dijk is sorted. The Reds may need to make some massive dips into the transfer market if he leaves.
And quite honestly, there's a very solid argument that they should be doing that anyway with their centre-backs. Guehi could fit the bill nicely.
