Liverpool line up star signing at AMAZING £30m discount
Liverpool’s lack of depth in central defence was exposed on Sunday as the Reds crashed out of the FA Cup to Championship strugglers Plymouth.

Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah started in central defence but that plan quickly unravelled with Gomez going off injured. With a lack of assured options on the bench, Wataru Endo dropped into the centre-back position.

The Reds sorely missed first-choice duo Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate with none of Gomez, Quansah or Endo proving particularly convincing even against the second tier’s worst side.
Liverpool are going to require added cover at centre-back in the upcoming transfer window and the need will be more profound if Van Dijk leaves at the end of his contract.
His current deal expires in summer 2025 while Konate could well be set for a move to Paris Saint-Germain with the French Ligue 1 giants having a keen interest in acquiring him.
And if Liverpool do end up losing Van Dijk, Konate or worse still BOTH this summer then new starting centre-backs will be coming in.
Reds in £40m Guehi fight
One player emerging on the Reds’ radar is Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi. That’s according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, which claims Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested in adding the England international next summer.
Tottenham had a £70m offer for Guehi rejected by Palace at the end of the winter transfer window but by summer that asking price is expected to plummet.
That’s because Guehi will have entered the final year of his current contract and there are few indications that he will sign a new one. Palace would therefore have to consider selling their skipper and the asking price could reach as low as £40m.
With FSG and Richard Hughes eyeing up “opportunistic” transfers, this could be one that fits the bill. 24-year-old Guehi joined the Eagles in 2021 from Chelsea for £18m. Since then he has gone on to establish himself as a first-choice England defender.
