Liverpool and Luis Diaz look to be heading for an abrupt parting of the ways.

We revealed last week that the Colombian winger was asking for a pay rise which would TREBLE his wages in order to renew his contract.

Although Diaz is under contract until 2027, he is reported to be unhappy at the conditions of his current deal, signed back in January 2022 when he arrived from Porto.

With talks shelved, speculation has turned to where Liverpool might offload Diaz should no renewal be forthcoming. With his current deal ticking down, the Reds’ hierarchy will have to face a sale sooner rather than later in order to recoup - or even better - the £37.5m fee they paid to Porto for his services.

Colombian media has been worried about Diaz’s situation for the past few months since it became apparent his future at Liverpool was in doubt.

And the latest reports from the South American nation are that Diaz’s status is AT RISK not only due to his unresolved contract situation but also Liverpool’s plans for wing replacements next summer.

Leroy Sane linked with Liverpool

Leroy Sane of Bayern Munich is out of contract at the end of the season, much like Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. It is uncertain what will become of the 28-year-old once his terms expire but Antena2 is convinced that Liverpool are going to make a move.

Sane, a Premier League title winner with Manchester City, started the season in indifferent form for Bayern but is beginning to emerge once again as a key player for Vincent Kompany’s side.

Moreover, he is capable of playing either as a right winger who cuts inside on his left foot or else on the opposite side where his pace and trickery can take him on the outside of his markers.

While the current reports must be taken with a grain of salt, it would be an intriguing proposition should Liverpool be able to command top dollar for Diaz while snaring one of the highest-profile free agents in the game next summer.

For their part, Mundo Deportivo reckons that Barcelona sporting director Deco sees Diaz as the club’s dream summer signing. Whether they can afford the transfer fee is another matter but the clock appears to be ticking on Luis Diaz’s Liverpool destiny.
