Diaz is entering the last two years of his current deal and that means if an extension does not come to fruition Liverpool might b forced into a decision to sell him.
This would be a real shame as Diaz has proven to be extremely valuable this season. It was going to be impossible for him to live up to Sadio Mane's standards.
Nonetheless, Diaz has done well to replace the Senegalese legend on the left-wing and he's now thriving in a no.9 role under Arne Slot showing his versatility.
Why Christos Tzolis could be an obvious Luis Diaz replacement
Liverpool won't want to see Diaz go. But Anfield Watch has revealed that he is the subject of interest from AC Milan and a move away from Anfield is possible.
If he were to leave, Liverpool would struggle to find a better value for money replacement on the left-wing than Christos Tzolis.
It has been confirmed that Liverpool are looking into scouting in Belgium more in order to find the next big prospects and Tzolis seems like could be the real deal.
After a disappointing spell at Norwich, he revived his career in the 2.Bundesliga last season, making 34 goal contributions in 37 matches.
Tzolis earned a move to Club Brugge last summer where he has continued his great form. The 22-year-old has 18 goal contributions in 30 matches averaging a goal or assist 0.71 per 90 minutes.
A quick and explosive winger who can beat his opponents with ease, Tzolis is a high volume shot-taker at 3.38 shots per 90 as per Wyscout this season.
He's also an effective player when it comes to pressing from the front - as per FBref he ranks in the 90th percentile for tackles in the opposition's final third this season.
Having matured as a player, he seems ready to make a return to the Premier League and a return to Liverpool.
Surprisingly, as per Football Acadmies GR, in his teenage years Tzolis spent time at Liverpool and even caught the eye of the Reds, who wanted to sign him but in the end a potential deal for him was blocked by PAOK.
Tzolis confirmed his trial period at Liverpool as a 15-year-old in an interview with Sports Day in Greece as well.
So, from almost joining the club to returning to Merseyside many years later, it would be the stuff of dreams and a true Hollywood story - but at the same time very well deserved given Tzolis' performances recently.
Anfield Watch exclusively revealed that Liverpool are leading the race to sign Stefanos Tzimas, which would make Tzolis' addition even more fitting as the two compatriots could create an exciting future front line at the club.
