Liverpool forward wants new contract NOW
Liverpool’s contract focus this year has been on Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
All three are out of contract in summer 2025 and sporting director Richard Hughes has been trying to get renewals done for them as a matter of priority.

That hasn’t come to pass as yet with Liverpool’s three superstars looking set to leave at the end of the season. And as a result of those contract talks, several other players have seen their negotiations over new deals deferred.

That list includes Ibrahima Konate, who expires in 2026, and Curtis Jones, whose terms run out in 2027. Also up for discussion is Luis Diaz. The 28-year-old has been playing on the same deal he signed back in 2022 when he joined from Porto for £37.5 million.
His wages are reported at £55,000 per week - a far cry from the mammoth salaries banked by fellow first-team stars.
Diaz wants new deal
And now TBR Football is reporting that Diaz’s entourage have demanded that his contract talks are prioritised as soon as possible. However, Liverpool won’t be rushed into a decision.
“Luis Diaz’s camp have informed Liverpool that they want his new contact sorting as a priority,” a report reads. “The club won’t be rushed into finalising new terms.”

The report also claims that club officials have pledged to open talks with Diaz over a new deal and are determined to keep him beyond this summer.
That might well be a risky game as if no new contract is tied up then Diaz’s transfer market value will plummet quickly. His current deal runs out in 2027.
Liverpool are open to selling Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa, according to the report, while Salah could also end up leaving.

With that much disruption to the front line, Diaz will be kept on despite interest from Barcelona. His sale is described as “unfeasible” and Barcelona have alternatives in mind including Mason Greenwood - once of Manchester United and now starring for Marseille in Ligue 1.
