Amid speculation linking him with moves to both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has now given the biggest hint yet about where his future lies.

The Colombian, who arrived from FC Porto in January 2022 for a reported £37.5 million (€45m), is clearly a man in demand.

However, speaking to club media after clinching Liverpool's Player of the Month award for April, Diaz sought to quell such speculation, expressing his contentment at Liverpool and his optimism for the club's future.

'Great years are coming for the club'

"I have grown a lot," Diaz said, reflecting on his journey which has brought him to Merseyside.

"From the beginning of my career to today, I feel that with the passage of days, of years, living each experience in each different team, coming to this great club that is Liverpool, leaves you with a lot of learnings."

The Colombian forward further emphasised his dedication to giving his best for the team, highlighting his gratitude for the opportunities bestowed upon him.

“Personally, I will always try to do my best, always try to give 100 per cent, to always stand out on the field, which is what I came [here] to do. I’m always grateful to God for every opportunity.”

Underlining his belief in Liverpool's prospects, Diaz then added: "Great years are coming for the club, I have no doubt about that."

Diaz's comments come amid potential upheaval at Liverpool, with the impending departure of manager Jurgen Klopp and the return of Michael Edwards to the fold. However, many have interpreted Diaz's sentiments as a reassuring indication of his commitment to the club.

Barcelona can't afford Luis Diaz

Diaz's comments come against the backdrop of a quickly altering transfer landscape across Europe.

Barcelona have been long-term admirers. However, their interest in Nico Williams from Athletic Club would suggest that Diaz is out of their price range and a move, therefore, wouldn't be possible this window.

Likewise, with Kylian Mbappe finally announcing his departure this summer, there have been rumours that PSG had earmarked Diaz as his replacement on the left-hand side of their frontline.

However, the French league is perhaps not the most enticing destination for a player about to approach his peak years.

With 13 goals across all competitions this season, including eight in the Premier League, Diaz has been a pivotal figure for Liverpool and has firmly established himself as a star player in a league widely recognised as the best in the world.

Now, as the Reds gear up to face Aston Villa on Monday, Diaz will be aiming to further bolster his impressive goal tally and reaffirm his importance to the team.
