Luis Diaz situation now TENSE after Liverpool contract insult
The situation with Luis Diaz is now described as 'tense' after Liverpool's latest contract offer.
Luis Diaz is in an interesting - and pretty unique - situation at Liverpool. The Colombian signed for the Reds three years ago and has been a success, for the most part.

Diaz hasn't quite lived up to the hype from his first few months, failing to kick on to the world-class level. It certainly appeared that he could do that under Jurgen Klopp in that quadruple-hunt season, but he's fallen short.
And that's had an impact. Diaz remains on his initial contract signed in January 2022, with Liverpool never agreeing a pay-bump.
That's unusual. Liverpool typically sign players on fairly reduced terms, all things considered, but entice them with promises of pay-rises for top form.

Diaz has never received one of those and he's now entering the final two years of his contract. Liverpool could be tempted to sell if they don't agree new terms.
And it sounds like those 'new terms' aren't exactly close.
Luis Diaz situation grows tense
Antenna 2 reports that Diaz has rejected Liverpool's latest contract offer. The Reds want to bump his contract from around €3.5m annually to €5.5m.
Diaz, however, has rejected that. He believes he should earn more and it's apparently led to 'tensions' in negotiations over his demands and what Liverpool are willing to offer.
It's easy to see why.

The report goes on to say that Barcelona, who are keen on Diaz, would be willing to pay €10m to €12m. In other words, double what Liverpool are offering.
The high end of that is nearly triple what Diaz currently earns. Liverpool's offer isn't going to go down well as a result - and it's looking increasingly difficult for them to renew his contract.

This could well be the end of Diaz at Liverpool, then. No new contract almost certainly means a sale this summer while his price is still somewhat high.
Things could still change, of course, but it doesn't look good.
