Liverpool fans SPLIT on club's decision NOT to sign Leny Yoro - poll results

The results of our Leny Yoro poll are in and here’s what fans think of Liverpool’s decision not to pursue the defender.

Liverpool were quite heavily linked with Leny Yoro this year but pursuing him was fruitless. He was destined for Real Madrid, either this summer or on a free transfer next year.

At least, that's what everyone thought. Instead, Yoro will join Manchester United in a £52m deal that has seen them put forward, in Fabrizio Romano's words, an 'incredible proposal'.

United will pay Yoro like a superstar despite him only having one full season of football under his belt. It's a risk - a massive one - and one that put Liverpool off.

They reportedly decided not to match United's offer as they couldn't justify the finances. Time will tell whether that's the right move or not but what do the fans think of Liverpool's decision?

Our Leny Yoro poll

We asked fans on X/Twitter whether the Reds should have pushed harder to sign the wonderkid. Now, we gave three options and two of them were 'no' - just with different reasons.

One was that it was too risky as he's not proven enough, the other that Liverpool flat out don't need him.

'Yes' got more of the vote than any option with 42% of the vote but more fans agreed with Liverpool's decision than not. That's an important distinction here.

Though, it's close. 58% to 42% in favour of the choice isn't exactly an emphatic backing of the club's choice and suggests fans see more value in Yoro.

Again, though, time will tell on that. Moving for him was always a risk and we do imagine a lot of people voting 'yes' just want to see some sort of transfer business.

Yoro is unquestionably a huge talent and one United will be lucky to have. Whether he justifies all the hype is another matter and Liverpool ultimately decided the chance he might not was too great.
