Liverpool transfer target's father outlines DEMANDS for next move

Liverpool have been excelling on the pitch this season, leading the way in each competition they play, while eyeing up a semi-final spot in the EFL Cup to defend their title.

However, off the pitch, things are heating up that little bit more.

Liverpool have a number of contracts to organise, both this year and next, and Richard Hughes is beginning to find his feet as the club's sporting director, following a disappointing summer.

Now linked to several different players in aid to freshen up Arne Slot's squad, which really hasn't changed since Jurgen Klopp's tenure last season, the club might be able to make a few additions in the January transfer window, before gearing up for the summer again.

Currently, the positions which need the most attention are left-back, defensive midfield, striker and perhaps an additional winger.

And while Liverpool often like to wait until they find their perfect target, who can come into the team straight away, the club is also partial to filling their academy with the best talents in the world.

The father of one such target has recently spoken out about the conditions of a possible move to Liverpool.

Lennon Miller wants first-team football

We previously reported that the club's scouts have been keeping tabs on 18-year-old Motherwell midfielder Lennon Miller, who has been shining in the Scottish Premiership this season.

In addition, he has made a number of appearances for Scotland's U19 side, and his stats for club and country this season are six goals and seven assists, impressive to say the least for a young player halfway through the season.

It is expected that if Liverpool want to secure him for the future, then his transfer fee will be around £8million.

However, the move will only permitted if he is guaranteed one specific personal term.

Speaking on The Warm Up podcast, his father - retired footballer Lee Miller, who featured for Middlesbrough during his playing career - laid out the vision he sees for his son.

He said: "For me, my advice is you need to be playing... his next move is so important to play and develop.

“He doesn’t want to go and play in the Under 23s and build himself up, he’s a first-team player now.

"He’s loving playing at Motherwell, he loves being there but it will eventually come where he has to go to further his career."

This may prove to be a sticking point for Liverpool, given the number of talented young players in the academy and their ambitions to play professional football. Miller may think he's ready to play straight away for a senior men's team, but his experience so far is likely to be limited.

In order to succeed on Merseyside, the club might have to allow him a certain amount of leeway, and while Arne Slot has the Reds competing at such a high level, the move may prove to be a mismatch at this point in time.

Lennon Miller to Serie A?

Miller's father also recognised that a number of Scottish players have excelled in the Serie A league in Italy.

Scott McTominay, Billy Gilmour and Che Adams have all recently made the move to Italy, and it has subsequently resulted in a significant upturn in their careers and their form for the Scottish national team.

Aaron Hickey earned a move to the Premier League off the back of a spell in Italy while Lewis Ferguson was named best midfielder in the division last season.

He added: "It's a different time. Italy is looking at Scottish players, especially midfielders, right now and for whatever reason they are getting them across there and actually playing them.

“It's a really good option – the pathway is interesting."

As such, Liverpool may have to look elsewhere if they are to make any additions to their midfield in the upcoming transfer windows.
