Liverpool transfer news: Leeds United enter race for exceptional 19-year-old
Leeds United have joined the race to sign exceptional Liverpool youngster Bobby Clark this summer, with the Reds having already rejected an RB Salzburg bid for the midfielder.
The 19-year-old star in the making excelled for Liverpool during a breakout season in 2023/24, featuring 12 times for the Reds and winning the Carabao Cup.
Clark shone under Jurgen Klopp's tutelage and could be similarly impactful under new head coach Arne Slot, although there have been multiple reports linking the teenager with a summer exit.
Naturally, Clark is on a number of clubs' radar before the window slams shut, with former Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders seeing a £6m RB Salzburg bid rejected for his services.
Reports have suggested that an offer of £12m could tempt the Reds but there have also been claims that Liverpool are unwilling to let Clark leave permanently this summer.
But RB Salzburg are not the only club circling the academy star.
LEEDS ENTER RACE FOR BOBBY CLARK
According to Football Insider, Leeds United are now interested in Clark. They will have to compete with RB Salzburg, Norwich City and Sheffield United for his services.
Leeds, who have lost Archie Gray and Glen Kamara this summer already, are keen to bolster their midfield and would seemingly be open to taking Clark on loan next season.
Clark signed a new long-term deal with Liverpool in 2023 and the report states that he was given assurances over a pathway into the first team.
A temporary move to the Championship would certainly offer the midfielder the opportunity to get some valuable experience under his belt, with no guarantees over game time with the Reds in 2024/25.
If Liverpool were to sign a new first-team midfielder between now and the transfer deadline, Clark would only be pushed further down the pecking order.
The fact that young midfielder Tyler Morton has also returned from his loan spell at Hull City and may stick around at Anfield next term puts his chance of minutes under further threat.
A decision will have to be made on Clark soon and it looks increasingly likely that a loan deal will be sanctioned.
