Liverpool transfer news today: Jonathan David CHASE, Hincapie JETS IN
Here's all your latest Liverpool FC transfer news.
Special Kerkez is coming
Liverpool fans are just starting to recognise Milos Kerkez's name.
His two assists against Manchester City not only helped the Reds ascend to the top of the Premier League, but it announced him as the club's first choice left-back target.
With Andy Robertson's waning powers, Liverpool need a fresh new, energetic and robust figure to freshen up the left-flank.
The Hungarian full-back is exactly that. I know that for certain. I've known about him since he was 15 years old.
This Anfield Watch's in-depth insight on the Hungarian international.
EXCLUSIVE: The lowdown on Hugo Larsson as Liverpool eye Frankfurt star
Liverpool have been one of the most consistent teams in Europe this season with Arne Slot making an electric start as new head coach.
And the Dutchman has done so while making minimal tweaks to the squad left to him by Jurgen Klopp with only Federico Chiesa coming in during the summer transfer window. A chase for Martin Zubimendi came to nothing and the club are still being linked with moves for midfielders in January and beyond.
One name associated with a transfer to Anfield is Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson. The 20-year-old has defied all expectations since arriving from Malmo in 2023 and is now on the radar of many of Europe’s top clubs.
He was recently rewarded with a new contract, until 2029, and has scored three goals in 14 matches this season.
Anfield Watch spoke to footballtransfers.com Bundesliga expert Ronan Murphy for the lowdown on Larsson and whether he could fit into Liverpool’s squad.
Luis Diaz is making Liverpool's £75m deal look VERY silly
Diaz has been good for Liverpool since joining - but not consistent. He's been an unreliable player, one capable of shining very brightly who's just as likely to disappear in a match.
Things have been different this season, of course, but there was a sense in the summer that Diaz may be disposable. Reports linked him with an exit and it appears Liverpool considered it strongly.
They had a deal with Newcastle United to sign Anthony Gordon back in June. Joe Gomez would have gone the other way and Liverpool would have had a new left winger.
Diaz would have been first on the chopping block, but it appears Arne Slot quickly liked what he saw and wanted to keep the Colombian. Thank God that's how it went.
Ronaldo hands Liverpool Salah LIFELINE
Since before he entered the final year of his contract, it has long been speculated that Mo Salah would make the move to the Saudi Pro League when he departed Anfield.
The team most talked about was Al-Ittihad but a recent report revealed that it is now Al-Hilal who are after the Egyptian’s signature, to replace the struggling Neymar.
Now, a report from SPORT is claiming that Cristiano Ronaldo is also on Al-Hilal’s list.
The report claims that Al-Hilal, who currently lead the Saudi Pro League, are 'dreaming' of the arrival of Ronaldo, but it does also warn that he is not the only player they are looking at.
Liverpool CANCEL £50m transfer talks: Gravenberch is BETTER
Liverpool can cancel their £50m transfer talks. Ryan Gravenberch is the man to stick with.
Liverpool have enjoyed an incredible improvement with Ryan Gravenberch this season. The Dutchman felt like an afterthought at the end of the previous campaign, struggling to get into the team.
In fact, do you remember the links to Galatasaray? Even if there was never anything in it, his stock was low enough that Turkish outlets felt he was a reasonable player to link.
Now, of course, Gravenberch looks a world apart from the player he was. He actually looks like one of the world's very best midfielders, if we're being entirely honest, and his performances this season have been a revelation.
So please, Liverpool - don't think about replacing him. Cancel the £50m talks.
Hincapie spotted at training ground
One name who has been linked with a potential incoming transfer is Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie.
The 22-year-old featured against the Reds on Tuesday night as Arne Slot’s side enjoyed a 4-0 Champions League win. However, the Ecuador international left Anfield with his head held high following a strong individual performance.
On Wednesday morning following the game, Leverkusen’s official social media channels posted images of the Leverkusen squad training at Liverpool’s base.
No doubt the connection with Xabi Alonso helped gain the German champions some time on the grass and Liverpool supporters were enthused by the sight of some of Leverkusen’s top stars on their home turf.
The likes of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Jonathan Tah have also been linked with a move to Liverpool but perhaps it is Hincapie who will provide the strongest long-term asset in a position the Reds need to strengthen.
Hincapie is under contract at Leverkusen until 2027 and comes with an estimated €50 million transfer fee attached.
Reds in chase for superstar Jonathan David
Jonathan David has been in SENSATIONAL form for Lille this season, scoring four times in four matches in the Champions League.
He has netted strikes against both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid as well as midweek against Juventus. David has also hit seven goals in 10 Ligue 1 matches, leading to speculation about a move to a top European club next summer.
Previously valued at around €60 million, the asking price is dropping rapidly as David is out of contract in 2025.
There is reportedly a clamour for his signature with Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United among the Premier League elites and Juventus all reported to be interested.
The latest news from Italy claims that Juve are planning to sign David in January, thereby earning a fee for Lille, before leaving him on loan at the French side until the end of the season.
