Liverpool ready to move on from left-back who is set to LEAVE
Liverpool’s left-back spot is one of the least secure positions in Arne Slot’s squad.

Andrew Robertson was the unchallenged starter for most of Jurgen Klopp’s time at Anfield but, since Slot’s arrival, the Scottish captain’s position has been in doubt.

Kostas Tsimikas has been trusted a number of times by Liverpool’s new head coach, but he has failed to make the starting spot his own and has once again fallen behind Robertson in the pecking order.
A new left-back will be a priority for Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards this summer and Tsimikas is likely to find himself on the chopping block over Robertson.
Tsimikas’ summer departure is likely
According to a report by The Athletic, Tsimikas is the left-back more likely to be sold in the summer, with a short-term extension for Robertson potentially on the cards.
The Greek international is under contract at Liverpool until 2027, whereas his Scottish counterpart’s deal is set to expire at the end of next season.

Tsimikas has made 109 appearances for the Reds since his arrival from Olympiacos in 2020 and was linked with a move back to his homeland last summer too.
The 28-year-old has never played more than 1,800 minutes for Liverpool in a season, and it looks unlikely he will break that streak this campaign.
Liverpool’s alternatives at left-back
If Tsimikas leaves Anfield in the summer his place in the squad will definitely need filling.
Owen Beck, who has spent the season out on loan at Blackburn, could be a potential option should the Reds choose not to dip into the transfer market.
The more likely outcome is that Liverpool will move for a new full-back in the summer transfer window.
Milos Kerkez, Antonee Robinson, Alvaro Carreras and Rayan Ait-Nouri have all been linked with a Merseyside move in recent weeks.
Anfield Watch also exclusively revealed earlier this week that Newcastle’s Lewis Hall is a target for Liverpool, and any of the above could prove valid options to replace Tsimikas.
Due to Tsimikas’ age and the fact he has two years remaining on his contract, it is likely he would command just as a high a fee as Robertson, so it makes sense for Liverpool to sacrifice the left-back who has featured less under Slot.
