Liverpool tipped to make SURPRISE Mo Salah transfer decision
The news that Mohamed Salah will remain a Liverpool player beyond this season broke last week.
The Egyptian King signed a new two-year deal at Anfield, and for many supporters that will be the best news they’ve heard all season.

The future of the Reds’ talisman is secured for another season at least, but Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes will have been thinking beyond next season when negotiating.
There is a long-term plan in place at Liverpool, and Salah will undoubtedly play a huge part of that on the pitch, but he could be a vital component off the pitch too.

Liverpool tipped to make shock Salah decision
Football finance expert Kieran Maguire, speaking to TBR Football, has had his say on Salah’s new deal, and the impact it could have in 12 months time.
“It’s [Michael Edwards’] responsibility to ensure that whatever contracts are signed are mutually beneficial. I think that’s very much the case in the Salah decision,” Maguire shared.
“My view is that, if Liverpool and Mo Salah decide in 12 months’ time that it’s the end of the road, they could sell him for £60m.”

Kieran Maguire speaking on Mohamed Salah
If Salah can replicate his current form next season, selling the Egyptian will be almost out of the question.
This campaign’s numbers will be hard to replicate though. Salah’s 55 goals and assists in 46 matches are representative of a once in a lifetime season.
Nevertheless, Edwards is clearly planning for all possibilities and, if an adequate heir has been identified, Salah could be moved on for a sizeable fee next summer.
Liverpool’s forward planning
It isn’t the first time the Reds have utilised this kind of forward planning when negotiating contracts.
Maguire pointed out that Liverpool found themselves in a similar situation with Luis Suarez in December 2013.
The Uruguayan signed a new long-term deal at Anfield but was sold for a massive fee just six months later.
Although Salah’s extended stay at Liverpool will hopefully last more than six months, Edwards could repeat this trick if interest from the Saudi Pro League persists.
A massive bid was rejected for Salah in 2023 and, although negotiations have been focused on securing the forward on a free transfer for some time, there is nothing to say that a Saudi side won’t return with another massive offer.

The important thing is that Mo Salah is a Liverpool player, and he will continue to be so for the foreseeable future, but Edwards may have already begun planning ahead to next summer.
