Record-breaking Liverpool player is now about to LEAVE on transfer deadline day

A Liverpool player who was a record-breaking member of Jürgen Klopp’s victorious League Cup squad in 2022 is now about to depart.

After making his Reds debut against Norwich in that victorious Carabao Cup campaign, young winger Kaide Gordon went on to become Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer in the FA Cup just a few months later against Shrewsbury.

Since then however, Gordon’s first-team opportunities have been limited due to injuries, although he did make three appearances for the Reds in all competitions last season and scored a brilliant goal in an U-21 victory over Crystal Palace.

There have been links with a whole host of Championship clubs who expressed interest in taking the 19 year-old on loan, and now we have our answer as to where Gordon is set to play his football this season.

James Pearce reporting for The Athletic has revealed that Gordon is set to leave on loan to Norwich City, who finished in the Championship play-offs last season. According to the report, head coach Arne Slot is keen for Gordon to get more experience of senior football this season, and the Championship would be an ideal proving ground for his undeniable talent.

It’s a strange quirk of fate that the club and the ground where Gordon made his debut for Liverpool is now where he will return to for this season, and there is every chance he will get a good amount of playing time given some of Norwich’s departures in the wing positions over the summer.

Gordon would’ve been highly unlikely to receive any more playing time this season than he has already received during his time at Anfield, and with Liverpool’s forward line having another arrival yesterday in the shape of Federico Chiesa, a loan move for Gordon should guarantee him the right amount of football to hopefully kick on.
